Heart Medical are looking to recruit Emergency Care Assistants to provide ambulance cover for the NHS and Private Sector clients as well as at public events.

Our ambulance crew will be a highly visible role model, not only in respect of what you do, but also in the way that you conduct yourself with our patients, the public and colleagues. Working on a front-line ambulance, you’ll be a key part of our ambulance service and as we work 24/7, 365 days a year, which means you’ll also need to work flexibly and at different times. Our shift patterns mean that you could work up to 12 hours at a time, including: nights; weekends and bank holidays, over 24 hours a day, in all weathers.

No two shifts will be the same: you might respond to a road accident victim with multiple severe injuries, someone who has had a heart attack in a busy shopping centre, you could be transferring a sick baby to a specialist treatment centre, dealing with an elderly person who has fallen down the stairs, taking a patient from hospital to home or attending a case of domestic violence.

You’ll literally see life from every angle, at every age and with people from every background. This is a stimulating and challenging role, but it isn’t for everyone. We need people that are confident, caring, compassionate and hard-working; you’ll be as passionate as we are about making a positive difference to the people of our region.

It is essential that applicants hold a current ECA certificate or equivalent and also hold a current emergency driving certificate. It is also essential that applicants have a full UK manual driving licence and have two years driving experience with a maximum of 6 penalty endorsements to apply for this post, applications from “non-drivers” will not be considered for full time roles on this occasion.

Please ensure you have fully demonstrated on the application form how you meet the essential criteria from the person specification as initial sifting will be performed against this criterion. Successfully sifted candidates will undergo a written paper and interview.
